Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem
Matthew 27
Jesus Before Pilate
11 Meanwhile Jesus stood before the governor, and the governor asked him, “Are you the king of the Jews?”
“You have said so,” Jesus replied.
12 When he was accused by the chief priests and the elders, he gave no answer. 13 Then Pilate asked him, “Don’t you hear the testimony they are bringing against you?” 14 But Jesus made no reply, not even to a single charge—to the great amazement of the governor.
15 Now it was the governor’s custom at the festival to release a prisoner chosen by the crowd. 16 At that time they had a well-known prisoner whose name was Jesus[b] Barabbas. 17 So when the crowd had gathered, Pilate asked them, “Which one do you want me to release to you: Jesus Barabbas, or Jesus who is called the Messiah?” 18 For he knew it was out of self-interest that they had handed Jesus over to him.
19 While Pilate was sitting on the judge’s seat, his wife sent him this message: “Don’t have anything to do with that innocent man, for I have suffered a great deal today in a dream because of him.”
20 But the chief priests and the elders persuaded the crowd to ask for Barabbas and to have Jesus executed.
21 “Which of the two do you want me to release to you?” asked the governor.
“Barabbas,” they answered.
22 “What shall I do, then, with Jesus who is called the Messiah?” Pilate asked.
They all answered, “Crucify him!”
23 “Why? What crime has he committed?” asked Pilate.
But they shouted all the louder, “Crucify him!”
24 When Pilate saw that he was getting nowhere, but that instead an uproar was starting, he took water and washed his hands in front of the crowd. “I am innocent of this man’s blood,” he said. “It is your responsibility!”
25 All the people answered, “His blood is on us and on our children!”
26 Then he released Barabbas to them. But he had Jesus flogged, and handed him over to be crucified.

Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem
Our Father In Heaven,
Hallowed be Your Most Holy Name!
For Your Alone Are Worthy of Our Worship,
For You Alone Are LORD,
You Alone Are the True God!
The Earth is Yours
And The Fullness thereof
You Control the Wind and The Rain
You Create a Lovely Spring Day
Or a Mighty Tempest.
Where can we run?
For When I Go to sleep at night, You are with me.
When I awake in the morning, You Are There.
You know my going out and my coming in.
You count every hair of my head,
And You keep all my tears in a bottle as a remembrance.
Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.
Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins
of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance.
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.
This we Pray Together,
As We Await Your Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Set Up His Kingdom,
And Make All Things Right.
God Bless America.

Here Are Three Little Stories About "Separation of Church and State"
1. Jamaican Jail: Our Tour Guide warned us. "Don't you smoke none of that ganja. You don't want to end up in Jamaican Jail. It is much worse than American Jail." Well, I had no intention of doing that, but I asked the Guide why the Rastafarians smoked so much, in public, and were not getting arrested. Our Guide said:
"That's because it's part of their RELIGION. So the police don't bother with the Rastaman. They know who they are by their dreadlocks."
Just then, the tour bus turned a corner, and in the shadow of the Red Stripe Brewery, stood a man with dreadlocks down to his waist, smoking a huge cigar of marijuana. His locks were very unnatural and matted, and didn't seem to fit, because the young man was White. The Tour Guide wondered out loud if the man actually really believed that the late Emperor Haile Sellassie was the Messiah, or if he had just grown the locks so he could smoke ganja without ending up in Jamaican Jail.
2. 300 Goats: The mosque was built surreptitiously, using a straw buyer and false permits. And yet, it sprang up in the neighborhood, surrounded by Senior Housing complexes which housed mostly elderly Jewish People. A local Talk-Show Host (and personal friend) brought these "irregularities" to light, and was immediately denounced as a bigot. Meanwhile the new mosque started planning its annual Eid Al Ftir celebration which involved the ritual slaughter of over 300 goats. Again, my friend (who is Jewish) denounced the practice on the air. She was attacked by the elderly neighbors who said that, since animal sacrifice was in the Torah, and continued up to the Destruction of the Temple in 70AD, that it was OK for the 300 goats to be slaughtered across the street. After all, the mosque had given out free coffee after the hurricane. And...because of "Separation of Church and State", there would be no "Animal Cruelty" investigation. (A side note...a few years after this incident, the Imam of the mosque was arrested for terrorist activities.)
Now I read that Animal Sacrifice is LEGAL in some parts of Detroit.
3. Back in the News: Leah Rimini's series about Scientology caused a lot of people to look at this "religion" as a source of oppression rather than a bona-fide "Faith" deserving Constitutional Protection. The biggest problem was saddling underage people to "billion year contracts" and subjecting them to SLAVERY. Most of this slavery took place on the high seas on a ship, so there was no way to confirm it. However, official investigations are now underway. The Constitution may allow Religious Freedom, but it forbids Slavery. And no billion-year contract can change that.
In all of these stories from Real Life, Religion and Civil Law come into conflict. What is legal in one religion may be prohibited in another. In Jamaica, the Civil Authorities gave way to a Religion, In America, the Animal Rights Activists and Board of Health close their eyes to the slaughter of animals in an inappropriate setting. And, on the High Seas, children labor for long hours with no pay.
The Religious Leaders in Jesus's day were facing a dilemma. They did not have the Death Penalty, but, to them, Jesus was committing Blasphemy, which deserved it. The Roman State, however, was not interested in a Religious Dispute. They had the Death Penalty for all kinds of crime, such as murder, theft, and rebellion. Blasphemy and Messianic Claims didn't interest the Roman State.
However, claiming to be a KING did. This crossed over into "Insurrection", a loaded word if there ever was one. It is very hard to prove "Insurrection". Most people who are accused of it end up being convicted of "Disorderly Conduct" or "Property Damage", which is much easier to prove.
The Religious Authorities refer Jesus to the Civil Authority, and the accusation is no longer "Blasphemy". It is now "Insurrection", and the stage is set for Execution

Psalm 23
A Psalm of David.
1 The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want.
2 He makes me lie down in green pastures;
he leads me beside still waters;*
3 he restores my soul.*
He leads me in right paths*
for his name’s sake.
4 Even though I walk through the darkest valley,*
I fear no evil;
for you are with me;
your rod and your staff—
they comfort me.
5 You prepare a table before me
in the presence of my enemies;
you anoint my head with oil;
my cup overflows.
6 Surely* goodness and mercy* shall follow me
all the days of my life,
and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord
my whole life long.*

PRAYERS ASCENDING ON HIGH FOR THE PEACE OF JERUSALEM! And for the Preservation of the Valiant Israeli Nation!
"Christ Before Pilate" Mihály Munkácsy 1844 |
|
| ND Jesus stood before the governor: and the governor asked him, saying, Art thou the King of the Jews? And Jesus said unto him, Thou sayest.
And when he was accused of the chief priests and elders, he answered nothing.
Then said Pilate unto him, Hearest thou not how many things they witness against thee? |
And he answered him to never a word; insomuch that the governor marvelled greatly.
Now at that feast the governor was wont to release unto the people a prisoner, whom they would.
And they had then a notable prisoner, called Barabbas.
Therefore when they were gathered together, Pilate said unto them, Whom will ye that I release unto you? Barabbas, or Jesus which is called Christ?
For he knew that for envy they had delivered him.
When he was set down on the judgment seat, his wife sent unto him, saying, Have thou nothing to do with that just man: for I have suffered many things this day in a dream because of him.
But the chief priests and elders persuaded the multitude that they should ask Barabbas, and destroy Jesus.
The governor answered and said unto them, Whether of the twain will ye that I release unto you? They said, Barabbas.
Pilate saith unto them, What shall I do then with Jesus which is called Christ? They all say unto him, Let him be crucified.
And the governor said, Why, what evil hath he done? But they cried out the more, saying, Let him be crucified.
When Pilate saw that he could prevail nothing, but that rather a tumult was made, he took water, and washed his hands before the multitude, saying, I am innocent of the blood of this just person: see ye to it.
Then answered all the people, and said, His blood be on us, and on our children.
Then released he Barabbas unto them: and when he had scourged Jesus, he delivered him to be crucified.

***Now I read that Animal Sacrifice is LEGAL in some parts of Detroit.***
And there is this factoid:
Mayor Coleman Young of Detroit awarded Saddam Hussein, the Iraqi President at the time, the city’s key for having donated hundreds of thousands of dollars to a local church in 1980.
